
The Conservatory of Extraordinary Dance
Dress Code
Two options are available within our dress code:
Option A: dance tights and a leotard in any color are required for all classes in any dance style.
Option B: athletic shorts or pants and fitted t-shirts are required for all classes in any dance style.
The following optional accessories may be worn as appropriate for the style of dance: skirts, tutus, leg warmers, dance pants or shorts, leggings, fitted sweaters, shrugs, or shirts.
Shoe requirements are as follows:

Ballet Classes:

Ballet slippers - pink or white required for recital for girls, black required for recital for boys, any color for class

Pointe Classes:

Pointe shoes - must be approved by instructor before being sewn or worn

Jazz Classes:

Jazz shoes - black required for recital, any color for class

Tap Classes:

Beginner class - flat tap shoes

Advanced class - flat or character tap shoes

Irish Step Classes:

Beginner class - black jazz shoes or ghillies

Advanced class - ghillies

Theatre Classes:

Character shoes are recommended, but because theatre encompasses a variety of dance forms, other shoes (ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical) may be recommended for portions of the class

Ballroom Classes:

Standard or Latin Ballroom shoes

Lyrical/Contemporary Classes:

Half-soles or similar are generally recommended, though socks, bare feet, or other footwear may be called for from time to time.

Hip Hop Classes:

Dance sneakers or boots - Please do NOT wear street shoes for class!

The dress code is relaxed for recreational adult dancers. Please wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in.
